Mod apology.
I'm really really sorry to have discovered that the community was subjected to two spam posts of an offensive nature. They have now been deleted, and membership has been changed so that only members can now post.

In the meantime I do hope you're all happy bunnies and that we've got some new Canterbury peeps.

Calling any musicians looking at this, I'm currently having a clearout of kit that I've recently upgraded.. if anyone's interested in any of this let me know.

For those who didn't know...
Just to let people know

The Jolly Sailor are giving away free beer each week.

Normally known as Free Beer Friday, they announce a phrase on their facebook group page so that anyone who shows up between 11am and 2pm and says that phrase gets a free beer/similar.

This week it's happening on Saturday and the phrase is Man Overboard

Happy drinking.

Hello. I'm currrently employed in a Canterbury pub. It's a decent enough dig, but the downside is i'm having to make the trek from Minster every day to work, and if we're being honest it's a pain in the arse. Anyone know of any decent places to live? Like fairly cheaply and close to the cathedral. I'm a little uneducated on flat hunting. If anyone's looking for a flatmate that's a decent idea too.

It sort of needs to be reasonably close to the city, like fifteen minutes walk.

Free Pie

This is the group page for the Old Brewery Tavern

Tomorrow is the first night of the Battle of the Bands

They're looking for acts (4 more slots left as I'm writing this)

You need to be able to play a 20 minute slot including 1 original song and 1 cover.

The bar is willing to provide a £15 drinks tab per slot

To enter, you should contact Alison Miller via the Tavern's group page.

The music will kick off at 9.30 and will go on til about 11 - 11.30

The Tavern, for those who don't know is located on Stour Street, Canterbury - the alley off the highstreet, between the old post office and the Abode Hotel, on the way to the Beer Cart Arms)

That's Tomorrow Night (Wednesday 15th October)

there may or may not be free pie.. that chance is yours to gamble with

Does anyone know any addresses of local women's refuges, or places which give toys to children who don't have any? My 3 year old son is desperate not to give toys to a charity shop, but directly to children who are really short on toys, and I am very keen on helping him to do this. He was absolutely appalled when his Daddy told him that some children didn't have toys, and wants to remedy it.

32GB iPod Touch
I've got a 32GB iPod Touch for sale that is an unwanted competition prize. See http://www.apple.com/uk/ipodtouch/ for more details. This is the version that was current until yesterday - see http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/whatsnew.html for a summary of changes in the new one.

It's still sealed in the original wrapping. I'm selling because I'll almost certainly be getting an iPhone when my contract is up for renewal next month and there doesn't seem any point having both.

The new ones currently retail at £289. I'll accept £200 for this one from anyone in Canterbury...

Kind of a long shot, but oh well.

Ages ago on the Internet I found the front cover of the Margate Times or Thanet Echo or whatever the local paper is. The headline was something like "JUNKIES KEPT MORBIDLY OBESE DAD IN CAGE".

I didn't download it at the time, and as I have kind of a weird/black sense of humour I'd like to find it again.

Nobody has it, do they? Or knows where it is online..

I am getting rid of my bike cos i cant take it home. Its a bit rusty and could do with a proper maintenance check (something i meant to have done but never got around to) but if i cant find a home for it BY SATURDAY then i guess it will have to go to the dump. I put it on freecycle which is where i got it from in the condition it is in. So if anyone wants it instead (free) give me a yell before SATURDAY.
